Denman Powers is a Senior Incident Responder at LevelBlue, based in New Jersey. Denman has over 20 years of experience in information technology and cybersecurity in both the private and public sectors investigating cybercrime and managing information technology professionals.
In his role at LevelBlue, Denman leads digital forensics and incident response teams in North America, where he handles cyber incidents of all complexities, including business email compromise, ransomware, insider threats, and other active intrusions. He manages a team responsible for evaluating an organization’s incident response preparedness and developing plans and procedures to test their response operations to ultimately elevate their cybersecurity resilience. His teams work in close alignment with corporate counsel, outside breach counsel, and in accordance with cyber insurance policies. Denman contributes to LevelBlue’s growth and development with strategic planning, thought leadership, speaking engagements, and process improvements, and supports recruitment, mentorship, and development of cybersecurity talent in North America.
Prior to LevelBlue, Denman served as Senior Incident Responder at Cybereason before it was acquired by LevelBlue in November 2025.
Before this, Denman was a Managing Director at Kroll, a financial and risk advisory firm, as part of their Cyber and Data Resilience team where he focused on digital forensics and incident response. Denman managed incident response teams across North America that supported clients of all sizes through many types of incidents including ransomware, business email compromise, insider threats, nation-state actor threats, among others. Beyond incident response, Denman worked closely with privacy counsel to provide advisory support for clients to improve their security posture through risk assessments, policy reviews, and due diligence.
Earlier in his career, Denman served with the New Jersey State Police from 2001 to 2021. During his time, he held roles including cyber detective, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Commanding Officer of the Identification and Information Technology Section. In these roles his responsibilities included managing and providing all IT services for the state police, as well as conducting cyber and digital forensic investigations.
Denman received his Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Thomas Edison State College, and his Master of Administrative Science from Farleigh Dickinson University. He holds multiple certifications including SANS GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner and Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
